Legislation put forward by a local lawmaker that would streamline state government operations by reducing inefficiency is advancing.
Senate Bill 755, introduced by Republican State Senator Scott Hutchinson was recently approved by the Pennsylvania Senate.
The new bill would eliminate 13 government boards, commissions and advisory committees that are expired, dormant, no longer have members, or are unnecessary. Hutchinson notes that many of the state’s over 400 entities do not publicly share information about their duties, meetings or activities, raising concerns about transparency.
This bill now advances to the State House.
