Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey is once again calling for more background checks when it comes to purchasing firearms.
“My focus has always been, make it more difficult for people we all agree shouldn’t have firearms. That is violent criminals, the dangerously mentally un-ill,” Toomey said on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday.
Toomey also added that he doesn’t think the amount of guns is an issue, but rather wanting to explore background checks.
“Whether a law abiding citizen owns three or four guns, that has absolutely no impact on anybody’s safety,” Toomey added.
Toomey has worked on bipartisan bills for expanded background checks in the past. He and other Senators have expressed optimism for some level of gun reform.

Toomey: “I don’t think the answer is [that we have] too many guns. If I have 4 or 5 guns and I buy 2 more, did America become a more dangerous place? I don’t think so.” pic.twitter.com/UmKalOTGuU
