Following two latest string of mass shootings, Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey is hoping to revisit a previous bill he proposed.
Toomey spoke with CNN late last week and spoke in support of a bill he and Democratic Senator Joe Manchin co-sponsored in 2013.
“I still strongly believe that the idea we had on requiring background checks on all commercial sales on firearms is a completely reasonable policy that doesn’t infringe on second amendment rights on law abiding citizens,” Toomey said.
He did acknowledge that this previous bill did not garner enough Republican support to pass back then.
However, he thinks it’s a reasonable step to take in an effort to reduce mass shootings and gun violence.
