Two Butler County lawmakers are working on legislation to help their constituents in different ways.
State Senator Elder Vogel on Senate Bill 780:
“I introduced this telemedicine bill because I felt that it was important to try and accomplish a number of things,” Sen. Vogel said. “First, I want to try to improve access to care for more of our residents in rural Pennsylvania. I also want to try to reduce costs through better management of chronic diseases with shorter hospital stays and less emergency room visits. I also want to provide patient protections for those using this technology.”
Vogel recently received approval for his bill from the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee. Among other things, this bill would ensure that services covered by insurance for in-person visits would also be reimbursable for telemedicine which could be used more in rural areas. This bill next moves to the full senate for consideration.
State Senator Scott Hutchinson’s Senate Finance Committee is holding a meeting on Wednesday in Harrisburg to consider three bills. One of those bills, Senate Bill 952, would amend the Tax Reform Code to exempt food and beverage sold by volunteer fire companies for fundraising efforts from the sales and use tax.
