A local state senator is taking time to recognize libraries in Pennsylvania.
Republican Senator Elder Vogel says libraries are everywhere in the Keystone State and play an important role in the community.
“There are 468 public libraries, plus 177 branches and more than 5 million registered users across the Commonwealth,” Vogel said on the House floor. “The libraries offer evening and weekend hours, meeting rooms, and convenient locations. Libraries are true community centers.”
Vogel says libraries are especially important for children, estimating 2.7 million people participated in library sponsored events last year.
“94 percent of Pennsylvania libraries offer STEM programs and equipment giving children a chance to develop skills that will set them up for a successful future,” Vogel said. “From coding classes and robotics clubs to digital production and 3D printers, libraries are the perfect place to foster a life-long love for learning.”
