The Pennsylvania Senate approved the appointment of Kimberly Barrow to the Public Utility Commission.
By a vote of 47-0 the Harrisburg Lawyer Barrow was approved to become a commissioner for the next five years. Barrow received a favorable recommendation from the Senate consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee after a 12-minute hearing earlier this week.
Barrow is now one of five on the board that oversees over 7,000 utilities and other services in the state.
Barrow replaces Gladys Brown Dutrieulle and she will be replaced by Steve DeFrank as Chairman of the PUC. DeFrank served as the Vice Chairman of the Commission and has spent more than two decades in state government.
