Pennsylvania’s United States Senators have issued statements with regards to the violent actions of many people in Washington D.C.
After listening to an address by President Donald Trump Wednesday afternoon, a large number of Trump supporters traveled to the Capitol Building facilities and entered there illegally.
A statement issued by Republican Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey called the situation “an absolute disgrace”. He commended the work of the U.S. Capitol Police. He stated that he and his staff are safe.
A spokesperson for Democratic Senator Bob Casey confirmed that the senator is also safe and following direction from Capitol Police. Casey was the only member of his staff at the Capitol complex today.
The process of Congressional certification of Electoral College votes from the general election has been disrupted and delayed.
