A group of Pennsylvania senators is trying to secure a commitment from retail giant Amazon to invest in Western Pennsylvania.
The group, including local Senator Scott Hutchinson, has written a letter to Governor Tom Wolf asking for help with a proposal for the location of Amazon’s second North American company headquarters.
The group would like for Wolf to “aggressively market” to Amazon the fact that our area is “an important crossroads” that connects the northeast and south with the Great Lakes region and the west. The letter goes on to call the development of the Amazon facility a “much-needed regionally transformational event.”
Amazon currently operates a software development center in Pittsburgh as well as pickup centers in State College and Philadelphia.
