PIAA Baseball:
–Cedar Cliff ended WPIAL champion Seneca Valley’s season with a 12-7 victory in the state Class 6A Quarterfinals.
–Redbank Valley’s season also ended in their second-straight extra-inning game, when they fell to Freedom 7-6 in eight innings in the Class 2A Quarterfinals.
The roll continues for Riverside and starting pitcher Zach Hare, who is a Slippery Rock University recruit. Riverside defeated Mohawk 6-0 in the Class 3A Quarterfinals. Hare did not allow a hit again over his complete game of seven innings. He extended his post-season hitless streak to 31-1/3rd innings. Hare struck out 13, and now has 55 strikeouts over the five-game post-season span. He walked three batters yesterday. Riverside moves into the state Semifinal Round for the first time since 2023, when the won the state championship. They will face South Park Monday.
The Mars boys Lacrosse team will face Allentown Central Catholic in the state Class 2A Quarterfinals Saturday. The match will be played in Mechanicsburg and begins at 2pm.
