Governor Josh Shapiro says that the state’s Department of Environmental Protection will be independently checking water in the aftermath of the train derailment in eastern Ohio.
Shapiro laid out plans last week to have the DEP closely monitor contamination risks by sampling water near impacted areas.
He says they’ll constantly be testing the water for months to ensure its safety.
Pennsylvanians with concerns for private well water should call the DEP Southwest Regional Office at 412-442-4000.
