Governor Josh Shapiro has signed an executive order re-establishing the Pennsylvania Office of Gun Violence Prevention (OGVP).
The OGVP was first established in 2019 by then Governor Tom Wolf as a response to the increase in gun violence including the Tree of Life shooting in Pittsburgh.
Lt. Governor Austin Davis will lead the office intended to curb gun violence by creating a comprehensive and coordinated strategy for the Commonwealth. Davis will report to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency as he works with national, state, and community violence prevention experts.
Funding for this office and comes from the PCCD which saw its budget doubled in the 2024-25 Pennsylvania budget.
