Governor Josh Shapiro is touting a new workforce development program.
Shapiro was in Pittsburgh this week, where he signed the executive order that creates the Commonwealth Workforce Transformation Program.
It sets aside a portion of funding that will go toward training workers to help with the pending money coming from infrastructure bills.
“I know that artificial intelligence and emerging technology gets a lot of attention, but we are a people powered economy in Pennsylvania,” Shapiro said. “Now is the time to invest in our people to take advantage of this unique moment of opportunity.”
Shapiro says a pair of federal bills will bring $19 billion to Pennsylvania to help rebuild its infrastructure. He believes that this model development program could support as many as 10,000 new jobs.
