Attorney General Josh Shapiro will be the next governor of Pennsylvania.
NBC News and Fox News have both announced the Democrat Shapiro as the winner over the Republican candidate Doug Mastriano.
As the results came in throughout the evening, data showed that Shapiro had a consistent lead over Mastriano.
Here in Butler County, Shapiro outran his fellow Democrats on the ballot. As of 11 p.m. Tuesday, Shapiro was closing in on nearly 40,000 votes. That was running almost 6,000 votes ahead of Senate candidate John Fetterman.
Shapiro will succeed Democrat Governor Tom Wolf beginning in January.
