Shelia J. Matson, 74, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on September 26, 2021 at her residence.
She was born November 17, 1946 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Walter Smith and the late Martha Stewart Smith.
Sheila was a graduate of Butler High School. She then went on to Butler County Community College where she received her Registered Nurse degree. Sheila worked as a Register Nurse at St. Barnabus in Gibsonia retiring in 2008. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary South Butler VFD. Sheila enjoyed cruising, scrap booking, planting flowers, doing things with her grand children. She was called the Cruise Queen by her family as she would organize the family cruises. Sheila was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband Joseph H Matson whom she married on July 14, 1967; two daughters, Traci (John) Lowry of Oak Ridge, NC, and Kelli (Chad) Geist of Sykesville, MD; four grandchildren, Tara, Shaun, Xander and Aubrey; four great grandchildren; one sister, Kelly Smith of Slippery Rock, PA; one brother-in-law, Roger Tucker of Butler, PA; one sister-in-law, Maryann Matson of Butler, PA; one niece; and six nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Cheryl Tucker.
Friends will be received at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA. on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. with Tom Harrison, of First United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
