Shirley Flory, 89, of Butler, PA passed away on Monday at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born December 14, 1931 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to the late Wilfred Dishong and June Fyock Dishong. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Carl Flory.
Mrs. Flory graduated from Adams Township High School and then went to Chicago where she worked with Brethren Volunteer Service. Mrs. Flory was an active member of North Main Street Church of God and served in the women’s organization for many years. She taught a Sunday school class for 25 years and served as a volunteer for Butler Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Flory enjoyed reading, knitting and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Flory is survived by her two daughters, Karen (Richard) Hoerner of West Chester, Pennsylvania and Cheryl (Timothy) Temple of Butler, Pennsylvania; two grandsons, Matthew (Jennifer) Hoerner of Milford, Connecticut, and Michael Hoerner of Madison, Wisconsin; two granddaughters, Madeline Temple and Taylor Temple, both of Butler;, and a great grandson, Joshua Hoerner of Milford, Connecticut. Mrs. Flory was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois Hoffman of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and Wilma Bixler of Goshen, Indiana; and a brother, Richard Dishong of Jackson, Tennessee.
There will be no public visitation or services.
Private burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
