Shirley ‘Shorty’ Green of Butler was embraced by God’s loving arms on Saturday July 22, 2023.
Born September 17, 1932 in Indiana, Shirley was a loving and dedicated daughter to Elmer and Oneeda DeLucenay, and sister to Glen A. DeLuceany.
Shirley married Edward J. Green Junior on October 30, 1954 and enjoyed 59 years of marriage before Ed went to heaven. She has now joined her family in heaven for love, shared memories, and the occasional card game.
Shorty was full of love and humor, and was always ready with encouragement and hope. She also gave great hugs and was full of compassion and generosity.
She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and supported the Butler Little League. Shorty taught ceramics for over 20 years in Florida where she participated heavily with Nettles Island Fishing Club and dabbled in the theater guild. She then became the cofounder and treasurer of the Veterans Auxiliary, raising money for the homeless and disabled veterans. She was a seasoned traveler, covering all 50 states, the Bahamas, Canada, and much of Europe, especially enjoying France and the castle once given to her ancestors.
Shorty is survived by son Ed Green (Judy), of Butler and son Glen Green (partner Jenny), of Allegheny and daughter Barbara Green, of Butler as well as her five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Saturday August 19, 2023 at 10:00 am, a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 North McKean Street in Butler.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Shirley’s name to the American Cancer Society.
