It’s the annual Sleep Awareness Week, which is promoted by the National Sleep Foundation. This year’s theme is “Begin With Sleep” and it will highlight the importance of good sleep health in order to achieve your goals.
And if you’re looking to kick-off Sleep Awareness Week with a bang—or lack thereof—today is National Napping Day.
The National Sleep Foundation says a short nap, about 20 to 30 minutes, will improve your alertness without making you feel groggy. They also stress finding a nice sleep environment—the ideal spot is a room with a comfortable temperature, minimum amount of light, and limited noise.
And if you think napping is a sign of laziness—the National Sleep Foundation points out that history has quite famous nappers—like Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein and Winston Churchill.
