Gas prices have been slightly lower both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, fell four cents to $3.63 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by three cents to reach $3.60. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Clarion at $3.47, while the most expensive is in Oil City and Warren at $3.70.
The average national gas price dropped by seven cents over the past week to $3.18, mostly as a result of higher supply and lower demand. This is a dime more than a month ago but 45 cents less than this time last year. Demand for gas decreased again but the price of a barrel of crude oil increased for a second consecutive week.
