The Slippery Rock University football team beat visiting Clarion on Senior Day yesterday, winning by a final of 24-9.
Isiah Neely paced SRU’s offense with 64 yards rushing and one touchdown. Running back Chacar Berry also added a rushing touchdown.
Defensively, The Rock was led by redshirt senior defensive end Marcus Martin, who broke a school and national record in the winning effort. Martin, who finished with a SRU record four and a half sacks in addition to six and a half tackles for a loss, became the NCAA all-time leader in sacks in any division. Martin now has 54.5 career sacks, and broke the record held by Waynesburg’s Mike Czerwien. Previously, Martin held the all-time Division I and II record with 50 sacks.
