The Slippery Rock University football team beat PSAC East foe West Chester on Saturday night, winning by a final of 49-42.
Slippery Rock University jumped out to a 21-7 lead early in the second quarter, but the #24 ranked Rams came back with 14 straight points to tie the game. For Slippery Rock, quarterback Tanner Garry completed 16 passes for 304 yards and 4 touchdowns, while running backs Chacar Berry and Isiah Neely combined for 115 yards rushing. Receiver Marcus Johnson had three total touchdowns, one receiving, one punt return for a touchdown, and one kick return for a touchdown. Rock receiver Milly Raye finished with 136 receiving yards.
Anthony Williams led SRU’s defense with ten tackles, and defensive end Marcus Martin finished with three and a half sacks and four and a half tackles for a loss. Martin needs just one more tackle for a loss and two sacks to break both Division II records.
With the win, The Rock improves to 2-0 overall. Slippery Rock will be at home again on Saturday, as they host another PSAC East opponent in Lock Haven.
