International Recreational Therapy Month continues at Slippery Rock University with an annual event this weekend.
Adaptive Sports Day is an effort of the SRU Recreational Therapy Club with a goal of spreading community awareness, as well educating about treatment options that include recreational therapy.
Students and community members stopping by Aebersold Recreational Center between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday will have the opportunity to participate in adaptive sports like aquatics, blind soccer, sitting volleyball, and wheelchair basketball.
Events earlier this month included a therapeutic drum circle and animal assisted intervention sessions as well as a documentary viewing and panel discussion. Visit SRU’s website for more information about the recreational therapy academic program.
