The Slippery Rock University football team fell to the visiting IUP Crimson Hawks on Saturday during SRU Homecoming, losing by a final of 34-17.
Pacing Slippery Rock offensively was quarterback Tanner Garry, who completed 25 passes for 316 yards with one score and two interceptions. Receiver Marcus Johnson finished with seven receptions for 108 yards and one score. Receiver Milly Raye, who has been featured on ESPN throughout the season, finished with nine receptions for 72 yards. Raye also was named Homecoming King.
Kyle Hall led SRU’s defense with 11 tackles, while Marcus Martin and Delmar Henderson both finished with ten. The Rock’s defense allowed 384 yards rushing. Marcus Martin, who is the all time sack leader for Division I and II needs 3.5 sacks to become the all-time sack leader in any division.
Both teams were ranked in the Top 10 in the country prior to Saturday’s contest, with SRU ranked ninth and IUP ranked third.
