Slippery Rock University has been chosen as a recipient of federal grant funding to support pollution prevention activities.
The United States Environmental Protection Agency has awarded SRU a Three Source Reduction Assistance Grant worth over $72,000.
This funding will allow SRU to provide four food and beverage manufacturers in Western Pennsylvania with industrial assessments recommending actions to minimize operating costs while also reducing the use of water, energy, and hazardous substances.
SRU will also be able to create a new intern prevention pollution program which will develop a best management practices training manual.
SRU was one of three colleges or universities in the Mid-Atlantic region to be chosen to receive this grant from the U.S. EPA.
