Although forced work stoppages due to COVID-19 had a major impact on timelines for construction, Slippery Rock University was able to make some progress with several projects.
The over $30 million renovation to the university’s three performing arts buildings that began two years ago is now about 90% complete. Barring any unforeseen setbacks in the coming weeks, those buildings are expected to be ready for use by November.
Other SRU projects completed over the summer include an artificial playing surface installed at Jack Critchfield Park to allow the university baseball team more use of the facility. Also, a $1.5 million project to replace windows and renovate restrooms at the McKay Education Building is expected to finish by the end of the fall semester.
A total of five projects costing about $3 million would have started over the summer on the SRU campus but have been delayed until next year.
