Slippery Rock University will now be requiring masks at all indoor facilities.
SRU officials say that since Butler and Allegheny Counties are now in the substantial level of transmission, they’re making the move to require all students and staff, regardless of vaccination status, to mask up when going indoors.
There are a few exceptions to the rule, including when students are eating or drinking.
SRU president Dr. Bill Behre says that he cannot require vaccinations on campus, but highly encourages students to get vaccinated.
He also adds that the university will continue to monitor COVID numbers and will make decisions based on the data.
