Slippery Rock University is unveiling its new strategic plan that aims to set the path forward for the school in coming years.
The university began the planning process for a new strategic plan in 2021, which also has now spanned the leadership of two university presidents.
“There must be an expectation of excellence, from within this organization and from those who come here to learn and to grow,” SRU President Dr. Karen Riley said. “Mediocrity has never been an option at The Rock, and we cannot be content with the status quo.”
The plan outlined four objectives that will guide future decisions.
- Robust, supportive, and inclusive culture
- Academic discovery and growth
- Community impact and collaboration
- Financial sustainability and resource stewardship
University officials say they are now in the implementation process of the plan and are working with groups to develop “action items” that will put the strategies into place.
“We must honor these commitments through action,” Riley said. “Our strategic plan is just that — a plan that allows us to realize our goals, but it means nothing unless we do the work.”
