With the holiday shopping season now in full swing, a nationwide effort is happening Saturday to bring the focus on local retailers.
Small Business Saturday was acknowledged with a resolution by Butler City Council last week as well as an announcement by the National Federation of Independent Business who says that last year Americans spent $18 billion on the day.
Butler Downtown is marking the 13th year of the designation with a Passport Event during which visitors will be able to stop by businesses from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for a chance to win prizes as well as take advantage of special sales.
Many other communities around the area are offering promotions and encouraging holiday shoppers to visit local stores this weekend.
