South Butler School Board has taken the first step toward changing the name of the district.
By a vote of 8-1, the board approved a motion that would officially change the district’s name to Knoch. Board member Debra Miller voted to oppose the motion.
According to Superintendent Dr. David Foley, the name change process would only cost about $5,000 which would mostly be made up of changing the outdoor signs.
Foley said that the next step is to submit the board’s vote to state representative Marci Mustello who has offered to help with a process that will likely involve the PA Department of Education. The name change will likely not become official until July or August of 2020.
