The South Butler County School District and local community members have rallied together to help neighbors in need.
At their Wednesday night meeting, the South Butler School Board was informed that the district placed first in the 5A category of the WPIAL Food and Fund Drive Challenge to support the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
As part of the challenge, schools competed to see who could provide the most meals. Food collected by South Butler will help the food bank provide over 7,000 individual meals. A group of South Butler students will receive a banner at the WPIAL’s Summit on Sportsmanship next week.
South Butler is collected food items in the athletic office and at home athletic events. Monetary donations were also accepted through the Pittsburgh Food Bank website.
