The South Butler Community Library is about to undergo a major renovation.
According to Library Director Michelle Lesniak, “This week has been the preparations for the renovations that will begin on Monday. We are doing the renovations in a large space in the main area of our library so it has to be empty.”
Items will be moved out of the library’s main room into storage this weekend and they are looking for some volunteers to help with the heavy lifting. Twelve people are needed Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to pack boxes. On Saturday, about 25-27 people will be needed to pack and carry boxes, as well as load a truck then unload the truck at the borough building.
Someone is also needed to drive that box truck from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday to transport books, shelving and furniture.
“We could probably use a few more volunteers carrying boxes and shelving,” Lesniak said.
You’re asked to call the library if you can help.
The library is also having a $3/bag book sale so staff members are working on sorting books and taping up over 400 boxes.
The library, which is located on Main Street in Saxonburg, will remain open this weekend and throughout the entire renovation. Work should wrap up by March.
