The South Butler County School District will get feedback from parents and the community before finalizing plans to return to classes next year.
At the Wednesday night school board meeting, Superintendent Dr. David Foley gave details about the preliminary plan which will be part of a survey sent out to the district community.
The plan would see a total reopening for in-person instruction without vaccine checks or masks in school buildings. Masks would be required for travel on school buses which has been mandated by the state. Quarantine recommendations from the PA Department of Health would be followed as well as social distancing of three feet when feasible.
The district is also working on a list of ways in which nearly $2 million in federal COVID assistance could be spent with possibilities including technology upgrades, new programs for students, training for teachers, or improved cleaning equipment.
The board is planning on holding a virtual meeting on Tuesday, July 27th at 6 p.m. to discuss responses to the survey as well as vote on final approval of the plan before it is due on the 31st.
