The South Butler School District has posted a job opening in their music program to replace an anticipated retirement.
The full-time position to begin this fall is listed as Orchestra K-12 with a sub-heading of 4th-12th Strings/Orchestra.
The only certification required is Music K-12 but the listing also says that strings concentration is preferred. Interested applicants are also asked to list concentration instrument and experience in a cover letter.
Kip Johnston plans to retire after teaching orchestra and strings to grades 4 to 12 for over 35 years in South Butler. Speaking to the South Butler School board Wednesday night, Johnston said the students deserved a certified string teacher to replace her next year.
