The South Butler County School District is taking precautions in order to keep students healthy and encourages parents to do the same.
According to a letter from South Butler Superintendent Dr. David Foley, the district does not have an unusually large number of flu cases but is taking steps to avoid the spread of infection, especially with concerns about the coronavirus.
Custodians are disinfecting desks and high traffic surfaces daily. Nurses are reinforcing good health practices with students who visit their offices. Health officials do not recommend that healthy people wear masks for protection but if parents would like to provide their child one to wear, that is permissible.
Parents seeking guidance about returning a child who has been sick back to school should refer to the school nurse page of their child’s school website. Those with questions about school health practices should contact their child’s school nurse for more information.
