The South Butler County School District continues to move forward with the next step in the process of a renovation project.
At their meeting Wednesday night, school board members received an update about the sale of bonds for the project which occurred Tuesday. Superintendent Dr. David Foley told the board that he was “pleased with the outcome”.
The district was able to secure just over $34 million for the project at an interest rate of 3.4% which was slightly lower than anticipated. The resulting annual payment of $1.8 million nearly matches the amount of a bond recently paid off so this expense will fit into the budget.
The Knoch High School Renovation Project is still in the design phase and district administration has informed both the architect and the construction manager of the exact amount available to be spent on the work.
The next step in this process will be meetings with students, faculty, staff, and community members to get design feedback. These meetings have not yet been scheduled but could begin as soon as the end of this month.
