The South Butler County School Board will not raise taxes in order to meet their 2021-22 school year budget.
At their Wednesday night meeting, the board voted to approve the nearly $37 million budget by a vote of 8 to 1. George Zacherl was the only board member to vote against the final version due to his desire for more discussion and forward thinking.
The district’s plan is to use about $600,000 of federal funding assistance and about $23,000 from the fund balance in order to hold the tax rate constant at the current rate of 94.275 mils.
This budget represents an increase of almost a million dollars compared to the budget of the year that will end later this month.
