A unique annual summer camp for young survivors is planned to begin this weekend in southern Butler County.
The West Penn Burn Center is hosting their 32nd annual summer camp for kids with burn injuries on Saturday, June 2 through Wednesday, June 6 at Camp Kon-O-Kwee in Zelienople.
The theme of this year’s camp is ‘Make Magic Happen’ and the Steel City Quidditch Club will host a tournament based on the Harry Potter series activity. About 20 kids from Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia will share about their journey to recovery as they also visit Kennywood Park and attend a Pirates game.
The camp is free of charge to kids ages 10 to 16 who have been treated at the West Penn Burn Center thanks to the fundraising of firefighters and other organizations.
