There are still a few spots left in the first-ever EMS Academy class at Butler County Community College.
The program was designed to offer paid training and certification to those interested in becoming an EMT.
Those in the program will earn $520 per week during the eight-week course.
The academy was started as a response to the shortage of EMTs in the county. One of the reasons cited for the lack of personnel was unpaid training and the time required to become certified.
The course is being funded through federal relief dollars.
The only requirement is to be at least 18 years old. The deadline to apply is May 31.
