Slippery Rock defeated East Stroudsburg 45-14 Saturday in the First Round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs. The Rock put up 521 yards of total offense, including 287 rushing yards against a Warriors defense that had been ranked in the top-10 in the nation against the run. The Rock improved to 11-1 this season will face top-seed in the Super Region One Tiffin in Ohio this Saturday. The Dragons had received a first-round “bye” and are 10-0. Kick-off will be Noon and the game can be heard on The Rock Station 97.7fm.
The Rock reaches the NCAA Division II football Second Round for the fourth time in the last five years.
Grove City College won their first-ever playoff game with a thrilling 21-20 win over Susquehanna. The Wolverines scored the game-winning touchdown and extra point with 13 seconds remaining in the game. Grove City will travel to face Cortland, New York this Saturday in the Division III Second Round.
Cortland upset Endicott 23-17 also on the road Saturday.
