Even though Veterans Day has passed, Military Appreciation Week continues at Slippery Rock University.
In addition to a Veterans Breakfast and Ceremony on Monday, SRU’s Veterans Center and Office for Inclusive Excellence are sponsoring a veteran, professional motivational speaker, and comedian Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the Smith Student Center Theater.
Additional event later in the week include film showings accompanied by discussion as well as a panel discussion about myths and misconceptions surrounding military deployments. Members of the SRU community are asked to wear red on Friday to remembers those who are deployed.
Canned food donations are being accepted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Suite on the second floor of the Smith Student Center to benefit the Butler VA Health Care System as well as Robin’s Home in Butler.
Last week SRU was recognized as one of 30 “Guard Friendly Schools” by the Pennsylvania National Guard Association.
