The Slippery Rock University football team will open their season tomorrow afternoon when they host New Haven at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Kick-off is 1pm. Pre-game begins at 12:30pm on The Rock Station 97.7fm with the Coach Shawn Lutz Show.
It is also the annual “Hall of Fame” game tomorrow. The 40th annual SRU Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet will be held tonight on campus. The Class of 2024 includes: Corry Darr-Men’s Track & Field (class of 2000), Ryan Gillespie-Men’s Soccer (class of 1995), Rick McCandless-Administrator in Athletic Training (class of 1969), Bob McComas-Former S.I.D. (class of 1982), Amy (Halls) McCormick-Women’s Lacrosse (class of 2012), Susan Myers-Field Hockey and Women’s Basketball (class of 1973) and Stacey (Rhoades) Rice-Softball (class of 2012).
The honorees will be recognized during the halftime of The Rock-New Haven game Saturday.
Pitt is on the road to Cincinnati Saturday for a noon kick-off.
Penn State will host Bowling Green for a noon kick-off.
Despite the lack of national games for a Thursday night, it was a busy night in the PSAC last night. Nine games were featured. IUP defeated Ashland 19-10. Clarion defeated Lincoln 20-9. The Golden Eagles are now 2-0.
