Slippery Rock University’s online nursing program has been ranked the best in the state.
The nursing advocacy organization RegisteredNursing.org did the rankings using data from several sources, including the U.S. Department of Education. Seven categories were examined- including graduation rates and annual tuition adjusted for each area’s cost of living.
SRU was one of the first institutions in the country to offer nursing programs completely online. The school has two programs- a 21-credit program for grad students to become certified school nurses, and a 39-credit program for registered nurses to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
The majority of the students in the RN-to-BSN program are working in the field and complete their degrees at their preferred pace, thanks to eight-week sessions each semester, according to the school.
SRU’s nursing program offers classes taught by faculty with doctoral degrees and a curriculum focused on skills, such as teambuilding and communication, that are sought after by potential employers. The RN-to-BSN program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
