The Slippery Rock University council of trustees took time at their quarterly business meeting earlier this month to say goodbye to the university’s 17th president.
William Behre will end his five year tenure with the school tomorrow as Karen Riley takes over Saturday.
Behre was named SRU president in July 2018. In that role, he was responsible for helping to create the College of Health Professions, community outreach center Butler SUCCEED, and the Office for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
During his tenure, the school also completed renovations to the Performing Arts complex and new laboratories for SRU’s four engineering programs.
Council commended Behre for his service to “the students, faculty and staff, and protecting the interests of the University.”
