Slippery Rock University is teaming up with local community colleges to provide a new pathway to earning a nursing degree.
The university announced a “three plus one” articulation agreement with Butler County Community College, along with community colleges in Allegheny, Beaver, and Westmoreland
Essentially, the agreement allows students to complete three years worth of credits at a community college, and then finish the final year at Slippery Rock to earn a bachelor degree in nursing.
“Our RN to BSN program is designed to provide students with the skills they need to enter and thrive in the nursing profession,” Michele Crytzer, associate professor of nursing and department chair said in a statement. “Especially with the critical demand for health care workers, it’s important that community colleges and universities partner together to make it easier for students to earn the credentials they need.”
The schools cite the state’s nursing shortage as one of the reason to create and incentivize a program like this.
