The search for the next president of Slippery Rock University has been extended.
Candidates Bruce Murphy, president of Nicholls State University in Louisiana, and Amir Mohammadi, vice president for finance, administration, and advancement services at SRU failed to advance to the final stage of the search due to a 5-5 vote of SRU trustees last week.
Murphy, Mohammadi, and Marsha Krotseng, president of Bluefield State College in West Virginia all spent time on the SRU campus in recent weeks for interviews. Those three candidates were chosen following a nearly year-long search process by the University’s Presidential Search Committee.
The trustees will now wait for further instructions from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education about how to proceed. SRU provost Philip Way is serving as interim president following the retirement of Cheryl Norton in July.
