Slippery Rock University will receive state funding to help pay for an internship program with businesses, including one in Butler County.
The grant program through the Department of Community and Economic Development will provide nearly $180,000 to SRU for the Manufacturing PA Training-to-Career Program.
Six SRU students will be paid a $12 hourly wage to work as interns during this summer and next at companies in Allegheny and Erie Counties as well as at Puppy Cake in Portersville which manufactures cakes and ice cream for dogs.
Interns have already been recruited for this program and will begin their employment on June 1st.
