The Slippery Rock University women’s track & field team won their second straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Indoor Championship that wrapped up Sunday night at Lehigh University.
Slippery Rock posted the largest winning margin at the women’s indoor meet since 2012 after winning seven of the 17 events. The Rock not only have claimed the last PSAC indoor titles, but the 2024 cross country title last fall and have won four of the last five PSAC titles in running sports.
Three Butler County athletes helped the Rock to the title. Distance runner from Seneca Valley – Ruthie Hughes achieved All-PSAC status with her third-place finish in the Mile run behind winner Anna Igams, a senior from Avonworth. Hughes also earned All-PSAC honors with her runner-up performance in the 3000-meter run, which Igams also won.
Other key point-earners for The Rock included Autumn Stewart – a Moniteau high school graduate, who was sixth in the Shot Put Finals and Baylee Blauser, an AC Valley grad, who was seventh in the Triple Jump.
