The City of Butler Parks, Recreation Grounds, and Facilities Authority is looking into the possibility of upgrading their ability to respond to a medical emergency.
At the Authority’s meeting Monday night, Director of Facility Operations Dean Selfridge Jr spoke about a recent incident in which a man passed out but it was feared he may have had a heart attack.
As a result, the authority would like to acquire an AED machine or Automated External Defibrillator. Since these devices are very expensive, the authority plans on looking into the possibility that one could be donated for use at Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park.
Due to possible liability issues from operating an AED, the authority also plans on requesting that their solicitor look into what, if any, policies or guidelines may need to be put in place dealing with an AED.
