A statewide grant program will see funds come into Butler County to help local food banks.
The Community Partnership was awarded $33,000 to help provide assistance to food banks and soup kitchens for projects.
The funding came through the Emergency Food Assistance Program.
Overall, the state awarded $1.6 million to 40 food banks across the Commonwealth according to Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding.
“It’s not just about additional food and food capacity, it’s about facilities, refrigerators, a dolly, or a truck. They’re the things to me that are about not only listening, but responding,” Redding said. “That builds the reach and resiliency in our food system.”
According to state data, just under 10 percent of Pennsylvania resident have suffered food insecurity.
