Pennsylvania’s state budget is poised to end the current fiscal year on the plus side of the ledger.
Figures released by the PA Department of Revenue show that taxes collected during the month of May totaled 2.6 billion dollars, half a percent below the estimate.
Even so, the fiscal year- as a whole- is shaping up to be a winner, with revenues ahead of this time last year by about 2 billion dollars.
Sales and corporate tax revenues are both ahead, while collections of the personal income tax are about 83 million dollars below the estimated total.
The current fiscal year ends on June 30th, when a new spending plan must be in place.
