The state department of health is developing a contingency plan as federal officials weigh a decision on the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
“If there’s an extended pause on Johnson and Johnson, we’re developing a plan for how we’re able to still fulfill an obligation and that commitment to those populations, but using the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines,” Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam said.
She says that federal officials could decide on their recommendations for Johnson and Johnson at the end of this week.
“We’re doing the prudent thing and following the federal guidance. Once we learn more this Friday we’ll pivot accordingly, but we’re already working on our contingency plans to make sure we’re ready to do that,” Beam said.
Beam also added that the pause on the J&J vaccine is impacting their plans to vaccinate prison inmates and workers.
Dr. Anthony Fauci said more federal guidance will most likely be made on Friday.
